Description

This listing is for a PATTERN ONLY.  This is NOT a listing for a finished piece.

The JT Necktie

The JT Necktie is an adaptive knitwear design.  In contrast to a traditional necktie that must be re-tied every time it’s worn, the JT Necktie has a faux knot and slips on over the head.

NEVER TIE A TIE AGAIN!!

The pattern design is a knitted necktie with herringbone stitch pattern to play up the visual interest and texture of the necktie.

The design is created in three pieces:  the tie, the knot, and the neckband.

These 3 pieces are then assembled to create a tie with a faux knot and adjustable length.

The length of the necktie is adjustable from approximately 15 to 24 inches.

This pattern can be adjusted for child sizes as well.  Simply knit the length of the tie portion to the desired length plus 2-3 inches to account for the fold over portion of the design.

Materials:

  1. Light worsted weight yarn, approx 100 yds
  2. 6 mm / Size 10 knitting needles
  3. Thin elastic, 12-20 inches depending on recipient’s neck size
  4. Tapestry needle

Skills needed:

This pattern requires intermediate knitting skills.  Techniques used include Knit, Purl, Knit 2 together, Purl 2 together, Yarn Over, Pass Slip Stitch Over, and I-cord.

Sizing:

The JT Necktie is designed to be completely adjustable!  Sizing information is included with the pattern.

The tie length is adjustable from 15 – 24 inches (as measured from the top of the knot to the bottom of the tie).
