THIS LISTING IS FOR A PATTERN ONLY.  THIS IS NOT A LISTING FOR A FINISHED PIECE.

Abstractions Shawl

So I have a confession to make.  I never liked traditional shawls.  I have a ton of scarves!  But I never feel in love with a shawl.  But recently, I’ve been wanting a piece to drape over my shoulders.  I realized that traditional triangle scarves didn’t drape like I wanted them too.  They have a long, straight top edge that tapers to a point.  That straight (2D) edge just doesn’t drape well over a 3D body!

So I started to think about shaping.  Sweaters use techniques to make a 2D fabric fit a 3D body.  So I setting on using raglan shaping for my shawl.  Instead of a straight top edge, this shawl is a crescent shape, making it perfectly for a chilly night or when the AC is a little too enthusiastic inside!

I also created this shawl in 2 sizes.  I wanted it to work for all bodies, and look amazing.  There is generous ease built in, this pattern will easy fit up to at least a 65 in bust!

This is an intermediate knitting pattern.  If you are an adventurous beginner, I say give this one a try!  I’ve got tons of tutorials on the Abstractions Shawl page on my blog.
