It’s easy! Let’s make this together!
I’m all about knitting and crochet. I love the process of taking a ball of yarn and creating something amazing. The whole process is soothing for me. I’ll sit and knit for hours and just lose track of time.
Whatever makes you happy, you do you. If your happy is NOT knitting and crochet…I still got you covered.
Say you don’t know how to knit or crochet. Or maybe you know how but really just want a project that works up quicker than the never-ending blanket you’re making. You might want to learn to knit but you don’t know where to start. Let’s do this friends! I’ve got just the project for all of us! If you’ve got 20 min and a pair of scissors you can do this!
First, lets get you the right yarn.
The Yarn
Enter stage left: Off The Hook yarn. This yarn is made with little loops spaced evenly along the strand. What does that mean for you? No needles, no crochet hooks!! You can use your fingers to link the yarn loops together to make something beautiful! No crafting skills necessary! It’s perfect for beginner projects. Kids are going to love this, too!!
I picked up a skein of the Lionbrand faux fur Off the Hook yarn…because Hello!…faux fur. It’s a no-brainer. I love how soft it is! Seriously they didn’t pay me to say that! I am just ALL IN for the new faux fur yarns that have been popping up lately and I’m not ashamed to be on Team Faux Fur!
If you’re equally intrigued by the glory of all things faux fur, check out my free pattern for the Jasmine Hand Warmer.
There are other yarns made with the loops like this, check out one of your local craft stores or shop online for a selection.
Off The Hook Headband
When I first got my hands on this yarn I knew I wanted to make something quick and easy. And that was how the Off The Hook Headband was born! This pieces makes up so quickly and makes a huge fashion statement. I don’t care what anyone says, a little faux fur is always in style!

- Off The Hook yarn
- Scissors
- Nothing else… seriously I told you this was going to be easy

Instructions
I created a video tutorial for those visual learners. I personally like visual instruction but if you to see it written out, I got you too! Scroll down if you prefer written instructions.
Off The Hook Headband Pattern
- Find one end of your yarn.
- Lay out 4 loops from the end.
- Take the 5th loop and pull it through the 4th loop, from back to front.
- Pull the 6th loop through the 3rd. Pull the 7th through the 2nd and then the 8th loop through the 1st.
- Turn your work around to prepare to work the next row.
- Pull the next loop on the yarn strand through the next closest loop on your headband. Continue across all 4 loops. *make sure to maintain 4 loops on each row*
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 until your headband is long enough to wrap around your head when slightly stretched.
- Fold your piece in half so the short ends match up.
- Now you will be attaching the 2 short ends to make the headband. Pull each loop of the final row up through the first row. Space them out even across the first row as you pull through.
- Make sure you can see you 4 live loops. Starting with the end furthest from where the working yarn attaches work across your piece to secure the live stitches. Pull the furthest loop through the next loop, repeat until 1 loop remains.
- Take the next loop on the working yarn and pull it through that last loop on the piece.
- Cut the working yarn just before the next loop and carefully snip open the loop you pulled through in step 11.
- Tie that end of the yarn to the end of the yarn from the very beginning of your work.
- Using your fingers hide the yarn ends by weaving them into the headband.
